World Series Final Game Captures 51M Viewers In the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting 11-inning matchup where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51M spectators in the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this is the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest drew over 27 million viewers on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 was eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Figures

In Canada, the climactic game recorded over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English program in the country after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – where World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-game World Series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded audience growth for two consecutive years.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the complete US average reached 16.1M. The total World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09M watchers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by 44 media partners in sixteen different languages.
